About the role
Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Band 4 Service Support Officer to join its Digital Technology Services team.
The successful applicant will provide operational and technical support for the Trust’s clinical and patient systems, helping ensure systems remain reliable, accessible and effective for clinical and non-clinical users.
The role involves working with end users, internal technical teams and external suppliers to resolve issues and support digital services across the Trust.
Key responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support for clinical systems.
- Act as a first point of contact for support calls.
- Triage, resolve and escalate incidents in line with ITIL standards.
- Manage system access and user permissions.
- Provide specialist user support and one-to-one guidance.
- Monitor and improve data quality.
- Support system changes, upgrades and digital projects.
- Maintain documentation, procedures and processes.
- Communicate system issues, updates and outages to stakeholders.
- Assist with audits, compliance and information governance.
- Contribute to continuous service improvement.
Essential requirements
Applicants should have:
- GCSE or equivalent qualifications in English and Mathematics.
- ITIL Foundation qualification or equivalent.
- Relevant experience working in a service desk or IT project management environment.
- Strong IT and computer literacy skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office or equivalent applications.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
Desirable experience
The Trust also lists the following as desirable:
- Service Desk Institute Service Desk Analyst professional standard/customer service expertise.
- Experience taking meeting minutes and documenting processes.
- Customer service experience.
- Experience with ITIL processes and continual service improvement.
- Knowledge of T-SQL.
Working location
The role is based in Birmingham, with the Service Support Team providing both remote and on-site support across multiple Trust locations.
