Job Overview

Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Trainee Educational Mental Health Practitioner (CBT) to join its Children’s and Young People’s Mental Health Support Teams (Reflexions) across the Black Country.

The role is based in Dudley/Halesowen, with travel across the Black Country required depending on service needs.

The successful applicant will support children and young people experiencing mental health and wellbeing difficulties, working closely with schools, parents and carers, teaching staff, CAMHS, local authorities and other partner organisations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver mental health interventions, guided self-help and parenting support.
  • Contribute to whole-school approaches to mental health and wellbeing.
  • Carry out mental health and risk assessments where required.
  • Provide support, advice and consultation to families, carers and professionals.
  • Develop effective links between the mental health support team and educational settings.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple agencies.
  • Support the development of partnership working across education, health and local authority services.
  • Provide support to junior staff where required.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • At least two years’ experience working with children and young people.
  • Experience working at a senior level.
  • A CBT qualification.
  • CBT accreditation with BABCP, or be working towards accreditation.
  • Significant experience supporting children or young people with emerging mental health needs.
  • Relevant clinical experience, including multi-professional working and case management.
  • Ability to travel across the Black Country when required.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to provide a formulation based on a case study.
  • Current UK professional registration.

Experience of therapeutic work in schools or colleges is desirable.
