About the Role
Liverpool City Council’s Network Management Team is expanding and is looking for Technical Assistant UTC CCTV Operatives to support its Urban Traffic Control operations.
The successful candidates will contribute to the effective operation, maintenance and programming of traffic management infrastructure across Liverpool. The work is focused on helping keep the city’s transport network moving efficiently while supporting the delivery of intelligent transport systems (ITS), highway improvements and related engineering activities.
The council is looking for candidates who can work effectively in a technical environment, communicate clearly and manage competing priorities.
Key Responsibilities
The role will involve supporting the UTC team with the management and delivery of traffic and transportation infrastructure across Liverpool.
Key areas of work include:
- Supporting the management, maintenance and programming of traffic signal systems.
- Working with Variable Message Signs (VMS) and HVM bollards across the city.
- Supporting the delivery of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) activities.
- Contributing to highway improvement and transportation projects.
- Assisting with the management and operation of citywide traffic control infrastructure.
- Supporting technical activities associated with network management.
- Prioritising workloads effectively to meet operational requirements.
- Communicating with colleagues and relevant stakeholders to support the effective delivery of services.
Requirements / Person Specification
Applicants should be able to demonstrate the technical knowledge, skills and experience required for the position.
The council is particularly interested in candidates who have:
- A qualification in Engineering and/or relevant practical experience.
- Experience in the design, installation, commissioning and management of citywide traffic signal controls, where applicable.
- Experience of highway improvement, Intelligent Transport Systems and/or other engineering projects.
- Strong communication skills.
- The ability to organise and prioritise work effectively.
- The ability to contribute positively within a dynamic technical team.

The salary for this position is £32,046 to £36,581 per year.

Working Pattern
This is a permanent full-time role working 35 hours per week.
