About the Role
The Ministry of Justice is recruiting Senior Content Designers to join Justice Digital, Data and Science as part of its user-centred design community.
The role focuses on creating accessible, inclusive and user-centred content that helps digital services and guidance meet the needs of people who use them.
You will work within multidisciplinary teams across a range of justice-related services and GOV.UK, including areas such as Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority Digital, Legal Aid Agency Digital and Prisons Digital.
The role is aligned with the Senior Content Designer position in the Government Digital and Data Framework.
This is a national role with hybrid working, combining remote work with time spent at a local office. London recruitment for this vacancy is to 10 South Colonnade, E14 4PU.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Content Designer, you will:
- Create content and develop strategies that help digital services and platforms meet user needs and business objectives.
- Help teams manage and visualise outcomes, define scope and agree appropriate processes.
- Advise teams on creating effective content and assure the quality of work produced by more junior colleagues.
- Mentor and support the development of other content designers.
- Monitor and improve content using user feedback, research and data.
- Work with subject matter experts, stakeholders and partners to deliver user-led services.
- Ensure content is accurate, accessible and user-focused.
- Contribute to content styles, patterns and design components.
- Consider wider business issues, long-term impacts and how content can help address challenges.
- Support the wider content community through peer reviews, content audits, knowledge management and benchmarking.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Proven experience working as a content designer and creating clear, accessible, user-centred content that communicates complex issues.
- Experience working collaboratively within fast-paced, multidisciplinary agile teams.
- Experience developing content strategies or identifying content solutions based on user needs and business objectives.
- The ability to persuade, influence and work collaboratively with stakeholders and business leads.
- Experience presenting content concepts, propositions and deliverables.
- An understanding of end-to-end user journeys and maintaining consistency across content.
- Experience using data and insights to inform design decisions.
- Experience mentoring, coaching and developing junior or mid-weight content designers.
- The ability to maintain high-quality content standards across a team.
- Willingness to meet the requirements for Security Check (SC) clearance.
