About the Role
Somerset Council is hiring a Social Worker – Children Looked After to join its Children and Families Social Care team in Yeovil. The role focuses on safeguarding children and supporting young people through assessments, interventions, and partnership working with families and professionals.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out child-centred assessments and safeguarding interventions
- Manage caseloads involving children in need and care leavers
- Develop and review care plans and support strategies
- Work with health, education, housing, and police services
- Prepare reports for courts and professional reviews
- Maintain accurate case records and documentation
- Promote equality, diversity, and children’s rights
Requirements
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Recognised social work qualification
- Registration with Social Work England
- Experience working with children and families
- Strong communication and IT skills
- Ability to manage challenging situations effectively
Desirable
- Supervisory experience
- Knowledge of current social care legislation
- Continuous professional development evidence
