About the Young Lives Night Support Worker Role
YOU Trust is looking for a passionate and committed Young Lives Night Support Worker to join its team in Weymouth.
The successful candidate will provide professional overnight support to vulnerable young people, helping them remain safe, maintain their accommodation and develop the practical skills required for greater independence.
The role focuses on supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes, engage with education, training and employment, avoid eviction and reduce the risk of repeat homelessness.
The first suitable applicant will be appointed, so interested candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective and professional overnight support to young people.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents throughout the night.
- Maintain the security of the building during overnight hours.
- Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies.
- Contact the on-call manager when required.
- Support young people to sustain their accommodation.
- Help residents develop independent living skills.
- Support young people to move towards lower-intensity support or independent living.
- Help prevent eviction and repeat homelessness.
- Maintain communal areas and office spaces to agreed cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Complete operational and administrative tasks.
- Write accurate reports and maintain appropriate records.
- Work within the Psychological Informed Environments (PIE) framework.
- Promote engagement with education, training and employment opportunities.
- Work in accordance with relevant regulatory and safeguarding requirements.
Essential Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- Working knowledge of the Ofsted framework.
- Health and Social Care qualification or equivalent to NVQ Level 3, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- In-depth knowledge of support planning and risk management.
- Understanding of housing-related support and homelessness legislation for vulnerable young people.
- In-depth knowledge of safeguarding children and adults.
- Experience working with young people in a trauma-informed care environment.
- Good computer skills for operational and administrative duties.
- Experience writing professional reports.
- A genuine passion for working with young people.
