About the Role

Igne is recruiting Trainee Field Technicians to join its Construction Materials Testing Division in Daventry, Northamptonshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin a practical and hands-on career in construction materials testing.

No previous experience is required. Successful candidates will receive support and training from experienced technicians, engineers and project managers while developing valuable technical skills and industry knowledge.

The role is suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, practical tasks, teamwork and learning on the job.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out on-site sampling and testing of construction materials.
• Collect samples of soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt.
• Perform in-situ testing at construction sites.
• Complete test sheets accurately.
• Enter test data using tablets.
• Liaise with senior members of staff regarding work schedules and testing procedures.
• Work within the company’s quality assurance systems.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety.
• Carry out manual handling and physical tasks safely.

Essential Requirements

• GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
• Clean full UK driving licence.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to undertake manual handling and physical tasks.
• Ability to handle samples weighing more than 20 kg.
• Confidence working in a team environment.
• Self-motivated and proactive approach.
• Ability to organise your own workload.
• Willingness to work outdoors.

Desirable Requirements

• Previous experience in a UKAS-accredited testing environment.
• Knowledge of testing standards and processes.
• CSCS card.
