The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is looking for an experienced Senior AWS DevOps Engineer to help shape the future of its Digital services. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) that supports more than 2,000 engineers, enabling faster, more secure, and more reliable software delivery.

About the Role
As a Senior AWS DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in improving developer productivity by building modern engineering platforms that reduce complexity and automate software delivery.
Working within DWP Digital’s Developer Experience Team, you’ll help engineers deploy applications more efficiently while improving security, reliability, and operational excellence across government digital services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and enhance DWP’s Internal Developer Platform.
- Build reusable DevOps solutions for engineering teams.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
- Design highly available and resilient AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code.
- Develop automation-first solutions to improve software delivery.
- Build developer self-service capabilities.
- Manage software catalogues and service ownership metadata.
- Improve documentation and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary product teams.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership.
- Promote DevOps best practices throughout the organisation.
- Support cloud infrastructure and resolve operational issues.
- Continuously improve developer experience across DWP Digital.
Essential Skills & Experience

- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation or equivalent)
- Configuration as Code
