About the Role

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a reliable and motivated Facilities Assistant (Domestic) to provide high-quality cleaning services across Birch Hill Hospital and other Trust locations where required.

You will work within inpatient wards, clinics, administration areas, and community settings, ensuring all areas meet NHS cleanliness and infection prevention standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning duties in clinical, sanitary and administrative areas.
• Follow NHS cleaning standards and Trust cleaning schedules.
• Maintain infection prevention and control procedures.
• Follow COSHH and Health & Safety regulations.
• Dispose of waste safely according to Trust procedures.
• Report equipment faults, incidents and near misses.
• Store cleaning equipment correctly after use.
• Work effectively as part of the Facilities team.
• Complete mandatory NHS training.
• Undertake additional duties requested by supervisors.

Essential Requirements

• Experience delivering professional cleaning services.
• Experience following COSHH procedures.
• Experience following Health & Safety procedures.
• Experience using colour-coded cleaning systems.
• NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of professional cleaning methods.
• Good communication skills.
• Reliable with excellent timekeeping.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to complete both online and face-to-face training.

Desirable Criteria

• Healthcare cleaning experience.
• Experience working to NHS cleaning standards.
• Experience within a Mental Health NHS Trust.
• Formal cleaning qualification.
• Knowledge of NHS colour coding.
• Good written communication skills.
• Basic IT skills.
