About the Role

Hays Education is working with a number of inclusive and supportive primary schools in the Harborne (B17) area that are looking to appoint SEN Teaching Assistants and 1:1 Support Assistants for the new academic year.

You will play an important role in helping pupils with additional needs develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The positions may involve supporting children with:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • ADHD
  • Speech and language needs
  • Behavioural needs
  • Other special educational needs and additional learning needs

Both full-time and part-time opportunities may be available, with potential for long-term placements throughout the academic year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with SEN.
  • Supporting children with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs and other additional learning needs.
  • Helping pupils access classroom activities and learning.
  • Implementing strategies that encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and social development.
  • Supporting pupils during individual and small-group interventions.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Working closely with class teachers and SENCOs.
  • Collaborating with other education and support professionals.
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Helping children overcome barriers to learning and participate fully in school life.
