About the Role

DWP is recruiting Executive Officers to work within Disability Services and Dispute Resolution Services.

Both areas are focused on decision-making and supporting customers across a range of disability-related services, including:

  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Access to Work
  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit

These are telephony-focused roles. Successful candidates will regularly communicate with customers and their representatives through inbound and outbound telephone calls.

You will be expected to understand complex information, ask effective questions, gather evidence and make informed decisions while providing clear and respectful customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on the service you join, your duties may include:

  • Managing customer cases from start to finish where possible.
  • Handling a high volume of inbound and outbound telephone calls.
  • Speaking with customers and their representatives to gather information and resolve issues.
  • Using active listening, questioning and communication skills to understand customer circumstances.

Salary & Benefits

The salary for these positions is £32,137 per year.

DWP contributes 28.97% of salary towards the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension Scheme. Based on the advertised salary, the employer contribution is stated as £9,310.08.

Working Pattern

The advertised roles offer full-time, part-time and flexible working, subject to business requirements.

DWP contracts are based on a 42-hour week, although employees in these roles will normally work 37 hours per week.

Working hours may fall between:

  • 7:45 am and 8:00 pm, Monday to Friday
  • 8:45 am and 5:00 pm on Saturdays

The exact working pattern will be discussed and agreed after appointment, based on business requirements.

Hybrid Working

The role may be suitable for hybrid working after the required training and consolidation periods.

Hybrid working is voluntary and non-contractual, with the DWP office remaining the contractual place of work.

Where hybrid working is approved, employees will normally be required to spend at least 60% of their contracted hours in the DWP office.

New recruits must work full-time on site during training and consolidation.

Part-time and job-share employees may also be required to work full-time during these periods before returning to their agreed working pattern.

Locations

  • Bootle Redgrave Court
  • Treforest, Ty Taf

Candidates can select up to three location preferences but should only choose locations they are prepared to travel to or relocate to at their own expense.

Candidates selecting Liverpool Belle Vale should note that the role will initially be based there before moving to Bootle Redgrave Court by September 2027.

The vacancy is only available at the advertised locations and cannot be transferred to another DWP vacancy elsewhere in the UK.

The role cannot be performed from overseas.
