About the Role
You will manage and support a caseload of forensic service users with mental health conditions, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to support recovery, rehabilitation and positive outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include assessments, CPA reports, Mental Health Tribunals and Managers’ Hearings. You may also be required to supervise junior members of staff.
As a senior member of the team, you will help lead and promote child and adult safeguarding while empowering service users to participate in their care plans and work towards their individual goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support a caseload of forensic service users with mental health conditions.
- Complete assessments and CPA reports.
- Support Mental Health Tribunals and Managers’ Hearings.
- Supervise junior staff members when required.
- Lead and promote child and adult safeguarding.
- Support service users to engage with their care plans and recovery goals.
- Lead multidisciplinary discussions relating to non-medical mental capacity issues and best-interest decisions.
- Liaise with external agencies, including MAPPA, Local Authority Social Services, Police and Probation, to support statutory responsibilities.
- Provide support to carers and families of detained patients.
- Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team.
Requirements / Person Specification

- A recognised Social Work qualification.
- Current registration with Social Work England.
- Good working knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Experience working in a similar environment.
Working Environment
The role is based at Thornford Park in Thatcham, Berkshire.
Thornford Park provides an integrated pathway supporting recovery and rehabilitation. The site includes medium-secure, low-secure and rehabilitation wards, as well as psychiatric intensive care units (PICUs), across a 21-acre setting in the Berkshire countryside.
