Job Overview

Next Chapter Healthcare Ltd is recruiting compassionate, reliable and caring Night Support Workers to join its supported living teams at The Withins in Radcliffe and The Woodside in Prestwich, Greater Manchester.

The successful candidates will support adults with mental health needs during waking night shifts, helping to maintain a safe, comfortable and supportive environment.

You will provide person-centred care, reassurance and practical assistance while promoting residents’ dignity, independence, choice and recovery.

Previous care experience is desirable but not essential. The employer welcomes applicants with the right attitude, values and willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

• Carrying out scheduled observations and welfare checks throughout the night.
• Providing practical, emotional and personal support to residents when required.
• Responding promptly to residents’ needs and concerns.
• Following individual support plans, risk assessments and night-time routines.
• Supporting residents with medication in line with your training and competency.
• Monitoring and reporting changes in residents’ physical health, mental wellbeing or behaviour.
• Responding appropriately to emergencies, incidents and safeguarding concerns.
• Maintaining accurate records of observations, incidents and support provided.
• Completing agreed cleaning, household and health and safety duties.
• Ensuring communal areas remain clean, safe and secure.
• Respecting residents’ privacy, dignity, confidentiality and independence.
• Preparing for the morning and providing a clear handover to the incoming day team.
• Remaining awake, alert and available throughout the entire night shift.

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential requirements:

• Experience working effectively as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and the ability to interact with different people.
• Ability to handle challenging or unexpected situations calmly.
• Experience following instructions, procedures and agreed ways of working.
• Ability to maintain accurate written or electronic records.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Good numeracy skills.
• Willingness to complete mandatory training and induction.
• Willingness to complete the Care Certificate where required.

Desirable requirements:

• Previous experience in health or social care.
• Experience supporting adults with mental health needs.
• Experience in supported living or residential care.
• Previous waking night shift experience.
• Experience supporting with medication.
• Level 2 Diploma/NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care or an equivalent qualification.

Previous care experience and a relevant Level 2 qualification are desirable, not essential.

Required training and staff meetings outside normal working hours are paid.
