Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with children, young people and families in their homes and communities.
- Support positive outcomes identified through relevant assessment and care plans.
- Contribute to assessments, care planning and reviews.
- Maintain a strong child-centred approach.
- Facilitate and supervise family contact where required.
- Provide transport support in accordance with care plans.
- Identify and assess safeguarding risks and support needs.
- Provide protective and supportive services to children and families at risk.
- Conduct home visits and welfare checks.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns.
- Respond to emergencies and crisis situations.
- Provide practical emergency support where required.
- Work alongside social workers during Child Protection Enquiries, including Section 47 enquiries.
- Refer and signpost families to appropriate services.
- Support access to financial assistance, accommodation and welfare rights services.
- Contribute to work directed by family courts.
- Support children and young people during transitions and moves into new homes.
- Encourage children and young people to participate in decisions affecting their lives.
- Promote equality, inclusion, identity and diversity.
- Maintain accurate records on the council’s children’s database.
- Provide practical and administrative support to qualified social workers.
- Participate in supervision, staff meetings and professional development activities.
