Role of the Job
The Freelance Legal Content Writer will create high-quality, SEO-driven content on a variety of legal topics to help clients grow their online presence and achieve measurable traffic and engagement goals.
Responsibilities
- Conduct keyword research to identify content opportunities
- Write comprehensive articles on legal topics including personal injury, estate planning, real estate, business, marriage/divorce, and contracts
- Adapt tone and complexity to target audiences and relevant style guides
- Create content that ranks and generates organic links to meet client SEO goals
- Perform outreach to journalists and bloggers periodically
- Write effective titles to improve CTR and press coverage
- Build and maintain relationships with writers, reporters, and web editors
- Implement feedback from editors, clients, and teammates
- Deliver solutions-oriented content that enhances clients’ online presence
Requirements
- 2–3 years of experience writing about legal topics, ideally published on reputable sites or blogs
- Extensive knowledge of contracts, real estate, consumer legal protections, employee rights, and family law
- Experience creating digital content including long-form guides, how-tos, comparison posts, trend reports, and thought leadership content
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work productively in a remote environment
- Project management skills to handle multiple projects independently
- Close attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Proven ability to generate creative ideas that attract attention online
Suggested Skills
- 4-year degree in finance, economics, or related field; JD preferred
- Intermediate SEO knowledge and familiarity with SEO tools
- Experience collaborating with design teams and advising on design/UX best practices
