About the Role
Gloucestershire County Council is recruiting an Apprentice Archives Assistant to join the Gloucestershire Archives team at the Gloucestershire Heritage Hub.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in history, archives, libraries, and heritage preservation. During the apprenticeship, you’ll gain practical experience while studying towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Libraries, Information and Archive Studies.
You’ll work alongside experienced professionals helping to preserve and make accessible more than 10 million historical records, including:
- Manuscripts
- Maps
- Books
- Photographs
- Plans
- Audio-visual collections
- Digital archives
The apprenticeship forms part of the Sounds of the South West National Lottery Heritage Fund project and includes networking and learning opportunities with apprentices across the South West.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preserving valuable archive collections.
- Support public access to archive materials.
- Deliver excellent customer service.
- Complete administrative duties accurately.
- Help organise archive collections.
- Support archive events and public engagement activities.
- Work closely with experienced archive professionals.
- Complete apprenticeship training alongside your daily duties.
