About the Role
The successful candidate will undertake urgent mental health, capacity and risk assessments while coordinating care plans for students with complex mental health conditions. You will work closely with NHS primary and secondary mental health services, provide specialist advice to colleagues, deliver staff training, and support students during crisis situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake urgent mental health, capacity and risk assessments.
- Develop and manage care plans for students with complex mental health needs.
- Liaise with NHS primary and secondary mental health services.
- Participate in daily triage and crisis response.
- Provide specialist mental health advice to university colleagues.
- Deliver mental health intervention training.
- Attend and chair case and crisis meetings when required.
- Visit students on campus alongside appropriate colleagues.
- Maintain effective partnerships with NHS and statutory services.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Registration as a Mental Health Nurse.
- Post-qualifying mental health training.
- At least five years of post-qualification experience.
- Experience in hospital, community urgent care, A&E liaison, or similar settings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong assessment and risk management experience.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
Working Hours
- Full-time (37.5 hours per week).
- Monday to Friday.
- Core working hours: 9:00 AM–5:30 PM.
- On-site position in Brighton.
- Part-time and flexible working arrangements are not available.
