Working alongside learning designers and content specialists, you’ll help improve publishing capability across government through innovative training and continuous improvement.

About the Role

The GOV.UK Content Operations Team supports nearly 3,000 government publishers and content designers responsible for publishing information on GOV.UK.

As a Content Design Trainer, you will design and deliver learning programmes including:

  • Virtual instructor-led training.
  • Face-to-face workshops.
  • Interactive classroom sessions.
  • Blended learning.
  • Peer learning.
  • Self-directed online courses.
  • Train-the-trainer programmes.

You’ll also improve existing learning materials using research, learner feedback and publishing data while collaborating with teams across government.

Regular travel to UK government offices may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design engaging learning experiences for publishers and content designers.
  • Deliver classroom and virtual training sessions.
  • Improve learning programmes through research and user feedback.
  • Support mandatory training for new GOV.UK publishers.
  • Analyse publishing data to identify capability gaps.
  • Build relationships across government departments.
  • Develop innovative learning methods and training resources.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning and stand-ups.
  • Support wider Content Operations activities.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Experience as a Content Designer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of user-centred content design and accessibility.
  • Experience designing and delivering workshops and training.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex information.
  • Experience using research and data to improve learning.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in Agile environments.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience producing video and audio learning content.
  • Knowledge of audio-visual production tools and equipment.
