About the Role

As a Security Officer Associate, you will protect Home Office staff, visitors, buildings, and assets while delivering a professional security service. You’ll patrol government premises, monitor access, respond to incidents, operate modern security systems, and provide excellent customer service.

Full training and ongoing support will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Control access to Home Office buildings.
  • Monitor visitors and contractors.
  • Carry out internal and external patrols.
  • Respond to alarms and emergencies.
  • Prepare accurate incident reports.
  • Search vehicles and individuals when required.
  • Report health and safety concerns.
  • Handle challenging situations professionally.
  • Operate security and electronic access systems.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Five GCSEs (Grades A–E or equivalent).
  • A valid UK driving licence (manual or automatic).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook skills.
  • Security or customer service experience.
  • Professional and customer-focused attitude.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts.

Working Pattern

This annualised hours role includes:

  • Shifts between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM
  • Weekend working
  • Public holiday shifts when required
