Liverpool City Council is recruiting a Technical Support Officer to join its Planning and Building Control Service in Liverpool.

This is a 6-month fixed-term position focused on data capture and data cleansing across several in-house systems. The role involves analysing, cleansing, interpreting and capturing data, alongside providing technical and administrative support to the wider service.

Important: Despite the job title and the IT Support category used on the vacancy website, this is not an ICT job. The position sits within the Planning and Building Control Service.

About the Role

The Technical Support Officer will work within a skilled technical support team supporting Liverpool City Council’s Planning and Building Control Service.

The initial six-month project involves working across several internal ICT systems to carry out data capture and data cleansing. The successful candidate will need to analyse and interpret information accurately while maintaining an efficient, customer-focused service.

The wider team is responsible for validating and processing planning and building control applications, land charge enquiries and providing administrative and technical support across the service.

Key Responsibilities

The role will involve:

  • Capturing, analysing, cleansing and interpreting data.
  • Working across a number of internal council systems.
  • Providing technical and administrative support to the service.
  • Supporting the processing and validation of planning and building control applications.
  • Assisting with land charge enquiries.
  • Providing flexible support across the functions undertaken by the service.
  • Maintaining an efficient, effective and customer-focused service.
  • Helping the team meet its operational objectives and required timescales.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience relevant to a Technical Support Officer position.
  • Competencies associated with NVQ Level 3 in Administration or Business Studies.
  • Proven experience of working in a busy office environment.
  • The ability to work accurately with data.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
  • The ability to provide customer-focused support within required timescales.

Important: This Is Not an ICT Support Job

Although the vacancy appears under an IT Support category, Liverpool City Council specifically states that this is not a job in ICT.

The role is based in the Planning and Building Control Service, with the technical element primarily relating to data capture, data cleansing, internal systems and administrative support.

Contract and Working Arrangement

This is a 6-month fixed-term contract for limited specialist project work.

The contract will end six months after the successful candidate’s start date.
