Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Housekeeper to join Ward 10 at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
The role involves helping to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients, families and staff. The successful applicant will work as part of the ward team and will need to organise their own workload while responding flexibly to changing service demands.
Salary
£25,272 per year pro rata

Main Responsibilities
The Housekeeper will:
- Help maintain a clean, safe and comfortable ward environment.
- Liaise with and assist patients throughout the working day.
- Communicate with staff at different levels, both face-to-face and by telephone.
- Take responsibility for monitoring ward stock levels and ordering supplies.
- Work alongside other housekeepers to provide an efficient service.
- Organise and prioritise their own workload while working under non-direct supervision.
- Respond appropriately to changing workload and service demands.
- Work shifts that include evenings and weekends as part of a rota.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Level 2 or GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English Language, or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience working with the public.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- An empathetic approach towards staff and families.
- Motivation and enthusiasm.
- The ability to plan and adjust workload according to service demand.
- The ability to organise workload and work effectively as part of a team.
- An excellent attendance record.
- The ability to manage stock levels using an electronic system.
- The physical ability required for lifting, bending, walking, reaching and standing.
Desirable Experience and Qualifications
- Level 2 qualification in a health-related subject.
- Previous experience working in a healthcare environment.
