Liverpool City Council is looking for a Welfare Assistance Officer to help residents experiencing financial hardship and needing emergency support.
The council works with communities across Liverpool and aims to place residents at the centre of its public services.
About the Role
The Welfare Assistance Officer will assess applications for emergency assistance and help eligible residents access practical support, including vouchers, essential household items and utility assistance.
The role requires a combination of policy knowledge, attention to detail and the ability to communicate sensitively with people experiencing financial difficulties.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess applications in line with council guidelines.
- Communicate with applicants and obtain supporting documentation.
- Determine awards and issue support where applicants are eligible.
- Maintain accurate case records and reporting.
- Work with internal teams and external organisations.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
