The Government Digital Service (GDS) is recruiting 2 Senior Data Analyst (Economist) professionals to join its digital transformation team. This is a Grade 7 permanent Civil Service position offering a salary of £56,850, excellent Civil Service benefits, flexible hybrid working, and the opportunity to influence digital investment decisions across the UK Government.

About the Role

This recruitment campaign covers two Senior Data Analyst (Economist) positions.

Economic Analysis Team

The successful candidate will support strategic economic analysis across GDS by:

• Developing Spending Review business cases.
• Producing economic models.
• Conducting cost-benefit analysis.
• Assessing value for money.
• Supporting major government programmes.
• Advising multidisciplinary digital teams.

GOV.UK Policy & Strategy Team

This role focuses on evaluating GOV.UK services by:

Key Responsibilities

• Lead economic modelling for digital investment.
• Produce Green Book-compliant business cases.
• Design monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
• Develop theories of change.
• Conduct value-for-money and impact evaluations.
• Run pilots and experiments to improve services.
• Review analytical models for quality assurance.
• Collaborate with finance, strategy, policy, and product teams.
• Present complex analysis to senior stakeholders.
• Support evidence-based government investment decisions.
