Job Overview
Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Mental Health Practitioner to join the South Manchester and Trafford Mental Health Liaison Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave.
The successful applicant will work as part of a 24-hour All-Age Liaison Mental Health Service, based at Manchester Foundation Trust hospitals at Wythenshawe and Trafford.
The role involves coordinating and prioritising referrals received by the Liaison Mental Health Service and undertaking timely mental health assessments for people presenting with mental health problems in Accident and Emergency and general hospital settings.

Main Responsibilities
The Mental Health Practitioner will:
- Coordinate and prioritise the day-to-day clinical workload relating to referrals received by the Liaison Mental Health Service.
- Undertake mental health assessments in Accident and Emergency and general hospital settings.
- Provide specialist mental health advice to professionals within the general hospital.
- Develop care plans with service users and relevant stakeholders.
- Liaise with statutory and non-statutory agencies and care providers when developing care plans.
- Undertake autonomous discharge where appropriate.
- Manage and lead the service in the absence of the team leader when required.
- Contribute to educational and training programmes provided to the general hospital and Accident and Emergency Department.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A qualification in a relevant professional discipline.
- Experience and understanding of mental health and dual diagnosis.
- Experience of working in acute mental health services.
- Current UK professional registration.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience working in liaison services.
- Post-qualification experience working with complex mental health needs.
Salary and Benefits
The role offers a Band 6 salary of £39,959 to £48,117 per annum pro rata.

- 30% pay enhancement for evenings from 8pm onwards and Saturdays.
