About the Role

You will be responsible for designing, supporting, maintaining, and improving SQL Server database systems that power critical business services. The role combines database administration, engineering, mentoring, and database development while supporting both operational and reporting environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, estimate, implement, and test SQL database systems.
  • Administer SQL Server databases, including backup, recovery, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Perform database performance tuning and optimisation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production database issues.
  • Develop secure, scalable, and high-performing database structures.
  • Work collaboratively within Agile delivery teams.
  • Support ETL and data integration processes using SSIS and Azure Data Factory.
  • Maintain database coding standards, documentation, and best practices.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should have experience with:

  • SQL Server 2017 or later.
  • T-SQL development.
  • Database design and data modelling.
  • Query optimisation, indexing, and partitioning.
  • Database administration and monitoring.
  • Microsoft Azure database technologies.
  • SSIS and/or Azure Data Factory.
  • Performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Data security and encryption.
  • Agile software development.
  • Supporting complex business-critical SQL environments.

Desirable Skills

  • Microsoft Azure Certification.
  • Microsoft SQL Server Certification.
  • Azure SQL Database or SQL Managed Instance.
  • Azure Synapse Analytics.

  • Experience working within regulated organisations.
