About the Role
The successful GP will join ABC’s Core GP Team, providing senior clinical leadership across:
- Refugee and Asylum Seeker Service (RASS)
- Remote GP Services
- Clinical supervision
- Urgent care support
- Virtual healthcare services
- Multidisciplinary clinical leadership
The role requires flexibility, excellent clinical judgement and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care across a range of evolving healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Supervision
- Complete Clinical Supervisor training.
- Supervise Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and Non-Medical Prescribers.
- Lead multidisciplinary clinical meetings.
- Provide senior clinical advice across remote services.
- Support workforce development and education.
Refugee & Asylum Seeker Service (RASS)
- Answer triage calls between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm.
- Assess patients and determine appropriate treatment.
- Prescribe medication where appropriate.
- Arrange face-to-face consultations.
- Supervise healthcare professionals.
- Register patients using EMIS or SystmOne.
- Review laboratory and blood test results.
- Contact patients regarding urgent results.
- Refer patients to specialist services including mental health, sexual health and TB services.
- Liaise with accommodation providers and hotel managers.
- Ensure FP10 prescriptions are delivered to pharmacies promptly.
Roving GP Duties
- Assess newly arrived refugees face-to-face.
- Screen patients for diphtheria and other infectious diseases.
- Respond to urgent clinical visits.
- Attend planned outreach clinics.
- Provide clinical supervision on-site.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Coordinate referrals and follow-up care.
Remote Clinical Services
The Core GP Team provides senior clinical oversight across:
- General Virtual Wards
- Enhanced Access
- COVID Antiviral Services (nMABS)
- Additional Primary Care
- Urgent Care at Scale (uCATS)
- UKHSA Outbreak Support
- Workflow Support
- Referral Support
- Smoking Cessation Services
- Inclusion Health Outreach
- Vaccination Programmes
Essential Experience
Applicants should have:
- Experience working in Primary Care.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Experience in Urgent Care, UTC, ED or MIU.
- Leadership experience within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience supporting vulnerable or underserved populations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build trust with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to reducing health inequalities.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working collaboratively with partner organisations.
- Experience using EMIS.
- Experience using SystmOne.
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must hold:
- Qualified General Practitioner status.
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
- Full GMC Registration.
- National Performers List registration.
- MRCGP qualification.
- Clinical Supervisor Certification.
- Appropriate medical defence indemnity (MPS or MDU).
